The Fabric of a Community Exhibition
The Fabric of a Community: An Exhibit of Generations of Fashion in the El Monte and South El Monte Communities was exhibited at the El Monte Community Center* on Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 12:00 - 4:00 PM.
Community members joined a journey through time and style via the dresses of El Monte and South El Monte.
Many families from the community generously donated photos from their special events in El Monte to share with the community.
Attendees were invited to learn more about how La Historia preserves the community memory of El Monte.
Reopening
After temporarily closing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the museum re-opened in December of 2022 with a re-opening event where recent museum renovations were unveiled to community members.
These changes included updated photo displays, renovated flooring, new seating, and state-of-the-art audio and video technology additions to the exhibition space. While enjoying the new space together, community members also participated in gathering donations for a toy drive for the holidays.
